Faridabad is an industrial town in Haryana. It is situated at 25 km from south of Delhi.Faridabad is a major industrial city. It is the population center in Haryana state in northern India. It is located in Faridabad district. The city was founded by Shaikh Farid who was the treasurer of Janangir in 1607. It was built with the object of protecting the highway which passed through the town. He built a fort, tank and mosque which are in ruins now a days. However, later, it becomes the headquarter of a pragana which was held in jagir by the Ballabgarh ruler.Faridabad has became 12th district of Haryana State on 15th August, 1979. It has a railway station on the Delhi-mathura double track gauge line. Faridabad is famous for production of Henna. Tractors, motorcycles, switch gears, refrigrators and shoes are other famous products. Faridabad City is itself a plain bordered by the River yamuna to the east and Aravills Hills towards the west and south west. Various tourist places which are popular are Badkhlal lake tourist complex, Suraj kund complex, Raja Nahar Singh Palace and Dabchick.
It is divided into five sub divisions. They are Palwal, Hodal, Hathin, Ballabgarh and Faridabad. Each subdivision has sub divisional officier. There have been departure of many manufacturing companies. However, Noida and Gurgoan has headed much in development due to the upcoming of many multinational companies.
As it is situated close to the Yamuna, the land east of the National Highway is better in qualtiy than the western side. Today the whole area is mushroomed by the residentail sites which have virtually swelled during the mid 90s.People of Faridabad share different ethnicity which is dependent on when they or their ancestors moved to the area.Old Faridabad which is northern part of the city is home to people whose families might have been living in the area for centuries as this is the oldest part of the city. The ancestors of this people are mostly Jat, Gujars and people from UP and villages in Haryana. Gujars are another group of people who live in and around the Aravalli hills. They have lived in the centuries for years and quited well setteled..
The rapid growth of the city also brought immigrants to the city from other parts of the country. People from UP, villages in and around Faridabad, Rajasthan,
Bihar and some from Bengal swelled the population size. Faridabad has one of finest R&D facilities in Asia. The R&D division of India’s Corporate is located in Faridabad. The division is a big contributor in fulfilling India’s Defense requirements. It contributes 51 percent of the income of Haryana alone. The engineering cluster city is now to get the software park which is called Haryana Technology Park. It is the industrial heart of Haryana. The various large companies have their head offices at this city like Orient fans of Birla Group and JCB group.
It has also various amusement places like Rose Garden and Town park. Bowling alleys and small shopping malls started appearing in the city in late 90s near mathura Road. However there has been rise in number. Ansal Crown Plaza and SRS World are just the start in an idea that seems to have worked quite well for Faridabad. These malls contain many shops like Woodland, Ebony and Vibe as well as fast food giants like McDonalds, Subway etc. It has very developed infrastructure. The roads are also well connected to all major cities.
