This is a place which lies on the west coast of India. This place has a glorious rich history. Its heritage is preserved in churches, forts, traditional homes and its cities. Another temple Shri Datta Mandir is located at a distance of 37 kms from Panaji. This is a century old temple with a backdrop of beautiful hills. The most important festival which is attended by devotees from all over Goa is Datta Jayanti. The entire interior consists of white marble.
Another famous temple is Shri Mahalaxmi Temple which is located at the Altinho foothill of Panaji and it was built on contributions made by devotees in 1817.
There is the famous temple of Sri Shantadurga the goddess of peace who is said to have settled a quarrel between Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu amicably. Sri Shantadurga is worshipped all over Goa and scores of temples have been devoted to this deity. There are various carnivals and fairs which are held in Goa. Apart from other celebrations, Christmas is a festival which witness huge gatherings and special Christmas Eve. It is a common tradition among goans to leave their front door open during the festival as a gesture of generosity toward all who may visit their home. Travelers find this place very romantic.
