Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is the fifth metropolis of India and forty one metropolis of the world. It is considered the gateway of Southern India. It represents the unique characteristic of meeting of North and South India and its multi lingual culture. It is known for its history, culture and architecture. It has population of 6.1 million people. It is a place where Hindus and Muslims have always co-existed peacefully. The language mainly spoken by the people of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas Telengana have a distinct dialect. The Telgu speaking people have assimilated Urdu into their language. The Urdu spoken is also somewhat unique with Marathi. The mix dialect is mainly known as Hyderabadi Hindi It is the most developed cities in the India.
It has most developed biotechnology and information technology. Many multi national companies have set their corporate offices in this city. It is emerging as a hub center for the professionals of IT industry. The professionals from all over India are lured to this city in search of better prospects. It has a manmade lake developed by Qutb Shah during the period of 1562.
It has another monument of historical importance, Charminar, which was built in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah.Hyderabad and Secunderabad are twin cities separated by Hussain Sagar Hyderabad is known as a city of lakes. It is also famous for the pearls. There are unique types and colors of pearls which are sold near Charminar and general bazaar. Other products include saris, kalakari paintings and silverware.
Andhra Pradesh has inherited various features from Hyderabad including research labs and academic institutes.Hyderabad was founded on the banks of Musi River in present Andhra Pradesh by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. It was probably done with the view to sort out the problem of water shortage which the dynasty has witnessed in the old headquarters of Golkonda. They ruled in Telangana and some parts of the present Karnataka and Maharashtra. The name of this place has different theories about its origin.
It is believed after founding this city he fell in love with a banjara girl Bhagamathi and named it Bhaganagaram. But after she converted into Islam, the name was changed to Hyder Mahal which is the present name.
It is the place where there are lot of pharmaceutical industries like Dr Reddy’s Pharmaceuticals and Matrix labs. Like any developed city, it has also witnessed a big boon in the real estate properties. It has very developed infrastructure and basic amenities of every type are available here.The development of retail sector has spurred up drastically with building of malls and other shopping complexes. Development of IT infrastructure by private firms has gained momentum after the kick off of Hitech by government. Hyderabad has been emerging as a main center to provide various IT services. BPO companies and call centers have been rising since 1990.
The attire worn by the women of this city is either traditional sari or salwar kameez. However, the muslim women generally wear burka or hijab. The traditional grab for the women is Khara dupatta and Shalwar Qamis and for the males is Sherwani. Hyderabadi cuisine is a blend of heavy Mughal, traditional Andhra and Telangana cuisine. A number of restaurants have come up that are popular among the people. The famous dish is Hyderbadi Biryani.
