Mumbai, this place is located on the west coast of India. It was a group of islands where fishermen used to live. This place continues to become the empire of one ruler to the other till it was finally acquired by the British who decided to use it as a harbor. Since then it has been constituted a single mass.It is the capital state of Maharashtra. The name was officially changed from Bombay to Mumbai in 1995, but the old name continues to be more popular. It is the world’s most populous metropolis. The city on an island with a deep natural harbor is the nation’s commercial center. The city was called Bombay for four hundred years. Its name was derived from the Portuguese word which mean bay. However, the name was changed in 1997 parliament. The new name Mumbai is associated with the Goddess “Mumba “and “ai” means mother in Marathi. This is a financial capital of India. It contributes mainly to the all sectors.

MumbaiIt has a population of 15 million people. This is increasing the cost of living in this city.The core area which is known as “Island City” has most expensive real estates. Getting water, power and residence in the city is itself a very difficult task. In India, it is known as the city of dreams. People from all walks of life find some type of work. The life style of people of this city is a bit fast. Mumbai has a lots of night life also. There is lot of activity in the late hours also.Mumbai has lots of dazzling shopping arcades, night clubs and discotheques, theatres and restaurants.You will find lots of museums, temples and historic sites which offer exotic tourism. There are lots of theme parks, art galleries and monuments. This city has witnessed various events during last few decades. This is a financial capital of India. All the head offices are located at this place.

It is the center of entertainment and art industry.Bollywood cinema is situated in this city. That’s why this city is always been in activity. It is also the house of various film stars. The trade and other private sector have grown tremendously over years. The transport sector is very developed in this city. The developed infrastructure contributes a lot for the development of tourism industry here.Mumbai There are two airports in this city where many national and international flights take off and land daily. Apart from the railways cover a very wide network. As Mumbai is spread over a wide area, it generally took many hours to reach a place. The people generally commute in trains. The presence of various beaches makes this place haven for the people who love lot of activity. “Chaupati” is one of the favorite places of people to eat mouthwatering pani-puris and chats.

It is a city where you can find people of different cultures. But the Maharashtrians make majority.The place has various fairs and festivals like Ganpati Festival where lots of local people participate with lots of zeal and enthusiasm. Similarly, in October, Durga puja is performed. Artisans from all over the Maharashtra make small and large idols of Goddess Durga. Everyday, hymns are recited to seek the blessings of Goddess. After the festival, the idols are immersed in water. The Gateway of India is another hot destination which has also historical importance.
